New Grand Update - APPEAL LETTER
The Pickford on Grand
It has been a big year for Pickford Film Center! This past summer, after four years of planning, fundraising, and building, we opened the Pickford on Grand, our fancy new three-screen cinema, less than a block away from the Pickford mothership on Bay St. The Grand was expensive to build and required hard work. We thought we had the budget raised in advance but once construction started expenses ballooned in unexpected ways.
We thank you and the rest of our generous supporters for giving the gift of the Grand to our community.
Now there is a short-term construction loan that is going to come due and we need to continue to raise funds by reaching out to the folks who have already proven you care. Can you help us make a dent in the last $450,000 to pay for the Grand? Consider giving again, or give for the first time because you love the new theater, you believe that it makes your life more interesting, and provides an asset to the community.
Whether you have a designated giving fund, need to make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA, unload appreciated stock, or can write a check for $25, we can use your help.

When you make a qualified charitable distribution directly from your IRA, you are supporting the Pickford while meeting your annual distribution threshold. Talk with your financial advisor about making a gift before year-end!
Requirements for taking advantage of this tax-free giving opportunity:
- You must be 70 1/2 or older on the day of the gift.
- You may transfer up to $100,000 from your IRA to one or more qualified charities.
- You decline goods and services of value.
Your Charitable IRA Rollover gift is not subject to income tax and counts towards your required minimum distribution for the year.
- Have your financial institution make the check payable to Pickford Film Center, and send to PO Box 2521 Bellingham, WA 98227
- Payment must come directly from your financial institution in order to avoid taxation
- Your name and mailing address should be included with payment

We are thrilled to report that building permits for the Pickford on Grand have been submitted and are awaiting City approval — construction will get rolling shortly thereafter. We have a few more seat plaques available, but beyond that we have met our community giving goal!
We can’t thank you and our generous community enough — and believe me, you will be the first to hear if we miscalculated our budget!
