Media Literacy

The Pickford is proud to offer Media Literacy courses alongside our educational programming. Media Literacy, by definition, gives our students the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media, giving them the tools to understand and interpret the hundreds of media messages that bombard them daily. Media Literacy helps students think critically about the media they consume, from advertisements, to movies to the internet. Media Literacy workshops are available to classes of all grades as well as parent, teacher, and community groups. Pickford Film Center works with Bellingham Youth Media Project to teach workshops related to Doc-ED and Bellingham Children’s Film Festival selections.
