Philippe has developed his own brand of "cinema essay," exploring the art of filmmaking and its practitioners. Most of his films take on the role of unpacking the most influential works of master filmmakers, and dissecting seminal screen moments. Selected past works include: You Can Call Me Bill (SXSW '23), Lynch/Oz (Tribeca '22), Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist (Venice '19, Sundance '20), Memory: The Origins of Alien (Sundance '19), and 78/52 (Sundance '17). Most recently, Chain Reactions (Telluride '24) won the prestigious Venice Classics Lion at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, and was released globally to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. His latest, Kim Novak's Vertigo, also had its world premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, and will be released by TCM and Kino Lorber in the US this summer; theatrically in the UK, Italy, and Spain; and broadcast on the BBC in the spring. Alexandre is the recipient of the American Film Festival in Poland's Indie Star Award, and of the Reykjavik International Film Festival's Honorary Award for Creative Excellence in Cinema. He is currently working on multiple ambitious feature documentaries about cinema and pop culture.

Comedy, Science FictionPT2H23MR2026-06-09Jonathan Pryce
